The New 52 Universe

In 2011, DC decided – yet again – to reboot its universe.
They even went a little further, and specified that the characters who had previously lived in the WildStorm Universe (already one of the 52 Earths) and the Vertigo Universe (never previously officially acknowledged as a separate Earth) would be folded in to the rebooted universe. The relaunch proceeded amid much hoopla, under the umbrella title of The New 52. It has been a commercial success, if not a great artistic success. And – yet again – DC would apply the reboot selectively: the Batman, Green Lantern and Legion of Superheroes titles in particular were barely touched, while other characters would be in name only versions of their earlier incarnations, and all the previous era of superheroes was compressed into a five year span.

They would also spread out the action of the New 52 across multiple Earths, of which Earth One and Earth Two are the most important.
